Multi-model ensemble simulations of olive pollen distribution in Europe in 2014: current status and outlook

2017

"Çalışmada 29 yazar bulunmaktadır. Bu yazarlardan sadece Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi mensuplarının girişleri yapılmıştır” The paper presents the first modelling experiment of the European-scale olive pollen dispersion, analyses the quality of the predictions, and outlines the research needs. A 6-model strong ensemble of Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) was run throughout the olive season of 2014, computing the olive pollen distribution. The simulations have been compared with observations in eight countries, which are members of the European Aeroallergen Network (EAN). Analysis was performed for individual models, the ensemble mean and median, and for a dynamically optimised c…

Multi-model ensemble simulations of olive pollen distribution in Europe in 2014

2017

Abstract. A 6-models strong European ensemble of Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) was run through the season of 2014 computing the olive pollen dispersion in Europe. The simulations have been compared with observations in 6 countries, members of the European Aeroallergen Network. Analysis was performed for individual models, the ensemble mean and median, and for a dynamically optimized combination of the ensemble members obtained via fusion of the model predictions with observations. The models, generally reproducing the olive season of 2014, showed noticeable deviations from both observations and each other. In particular, the season start was reported too early, by 8 days …

Ensemble Averaging and Multiple Statistical Testing of EMG Activities of Cyclically Repeated Body Motions. A Tool for Muscle Function Analysis in Exp…

2003

Coupled with suitable computerized signal recording and processing methods surface electromyography can be a powerful tool for the analysis of muscle activity in specific body movements. It can be used for this purpose in experimental and in clinical diagnostic orthopaedics as well as in physiotherapy. We describe in this paper a motion analysis system comprising this feature. It has been employed for the diagnosis of the basic angular kinematics and muscle function in human gait and other cyclically repeatable movements of the human locomotive system. Changes in the temporal characteristics of the movements and the muscle activity due to changed physical or experimental conditions can be s…

Probing slow fluctuations in nonergodic systems: Interleaved sampling technique

2007

We present a new dynamic light scattering scheme to obtain ensemble-averaged correlation functions of slow fluctuations in non-ergodic systems in an efficient way. On a rotating sample, a large set of separate correlation functions is measured in parallel, for each independent orientational component of the sample’ density fluctuations. The ensemble-averaged correlation function spans a lag time range from 1 to 104 s. We describe our first implementation of this technique, discuss its statistical accuracy and show first results. Compared to plain ensemble averaging over a series of N measurements, the total measurement time is usualy reduced by a factor N without significant degradation of …

Multi-speckle autocorrelation spectroscopy — a new strategy to monitor ultraslow dynamics in dense and nonergodic media

2007

We present a modification of the conventional dynamic light scattering set-up which allows to monitor the intensity fluctuations of many independent spatial Fourier components of the density fluctuations, i.e. “speckles”, simultaneously by using a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera as area detector. By averaging over the intensity autocorrelation function the final 10–20% decay of the intermediate scattering function in very dense colloidal dispersions is obtained with much higher accuracy. At the same time this multi-speckle autocorrelation spectroscopy provides an alternative route for constructing ensemble-averaged intermediate scattering functions in nonergodic media by replacing the av…

Experimentelle Untersuchungen zur Reproduzierbarkeit von Ensemble-gemittelten elektromyographischen Ganganalysedaten im Bereich der experimentellen u…

2004

With suitable application and signal processing methods, surface electromyography is a comparatively simple instrument for investigating the temporal pattern of the muscular activity of a walking subject. The influence of changes both in the external experimental conditions (e.g. orthopedic shoe design) and in the human locomotor system (due to disease or therapy) on the individual muscular gait characteristics can be documented in this way. The usefulness of this kind of investigation is basically limited by the reproducibility of the gait analytical findings of the subject, who is examined at different times with unchanged bodily state and under identical experimental conditions unchanged…
